Big Sky is a large planned residential development in Simi Valley, California that has a variety of models and floor plans.
Big Sky is comprised of nine individual tracts that all have their own personalities and architectural designs. This community was built by Standard Pacific Homes, D.R. Horton Homes, and Shea Homes. All together there are around thirty floor plans and most have the option of three different elevations.
The Walnut Grove neighborhood was named after the Little House on the Prairie and is near the Big Sky Movie ranch nearby where the television show was filmed. These homes offer living space that ranges from 2,984 to 3,181 square feet. The Crosspointe tract offers three floor plans that range from 2,034 to 2,452 square feet. Residents enjoy walking and biking along the many paths and hiking trails that connect the neighborhoods.
This community is served by the Simi Valley Unified School District with highly ranked facilities like Atherwood Elementary School, Sinaloa Middle School, and Santa Susana High School. There are several private institutions to choose from including Arroyo Montessori, Faith Academy, and Good Shepherd Lutheran School. Many higher learning schools are in this region like Ventura College, Moorpark College, and Cal State Northridge.
There are many local shopping areas nearby and to the south by the freeway is the Simi Valley Town Center.
There are fifty parks in this city, many of which have trail systems. There are six golf courses including the Simi Hills Golf Course which features an 18-hole championship course designed by Ted Robinson.
Simi Valley is considered to be a commuter bedroom community with residents working in larger areas like the San Fernando Valley, Ventura County, and Los Angeles.
